Days 43-44: Chebogyan?
July 14-15: We were guided to the Duncan Bay Boat Club by another boater in Alpena. Duncan Bay is located in Cheboygan, Michigan which, for all our Fresno friends, does not appear to be an Armenian enclave, despite the name. Duncan Bay has turned out to be the best marina we have yet to visit. Olivia particularly has enjoyed the swimming pool although she has also swam in the waters around the marina and the bay just outside of it.
We had intended it to be an overnight stop only but owing to a mistake in the reservations, we stayed a second night and everyone has agreed that turned out to be a good thing. We took the dinghy across the bay to a public beach. The water was super warm, clear and shallow for more than a 100 feet off shore. On top of that, as we motored back to the marina we went by a bird sanctuary and a family of swans floated by us. Good times.

The best thing about Cheboygan? The people have been incredible. Above is Joel with his granddaughter, Stella, and Olivia. Joel loaned his car to Heather and Mark to go to the grocery store - without knowing anything about them. No questions asked; no payment. Total trust and courtesy. Stella and Olivia became friends, swimming and playing together.
The best part - the very best part? Tom got to spend this time with Heather and Olivia. Moments to cherish and not forget.
