Meet Tom & Rayma
Meet Tom & Rayma
This view is from a foothill near the Mulholland Citrus Ranch outside of Orange Cove. Not only are the white capped Sierra Nevada Mountains visible but also the citrus groves that comprise much of the agricultural land in the area. Those tall white poles are wind machines to keep the crops from freezing in low temperatures.
Hailing from Orange Cove in Central California a region otherwise known as the fruit basket of the world,* Tom is the oldest citrus propagator in California and Rayma is a retired attorney. Both Tom and Rayma grew up in the Central Valley - so they are “local produce.”
The Central Valley is nothing like LA or the Bay Area and it is 3 hours from the Pacific Ocean so no local marinas providing Tom or Rayma a background in sailing. Undertaking the Loop meant taking boating courses in the San Francisco Bay and why this is a true adventure for both of them.
But no adventure is complete without the right crew—enter Zander, the trusty First Mate and Chief of Security! This sweet boxer might not know much about sailing, but he sure knows how to steal hearts.
This description is not intended to refer to what outsiders think of California as the land of fruits and nuts, although literally an accurate description
