Day 25: Westward! And Dr John joins us …

FYI - the headsets that are visible in the photo of John and Tom? Those are called “marriage savers” to avoid the yelling at each other when docking or in a lock. Not 100% successful.
The temperatures in Up State New York were in the Nineties today along with 30% humidity but, of course, the AC on the boat decided not to work while we were underway. This means we were sweating - meaning sweat was running down our faces uncontrollably until we got to Case Marina. The guys got to take a deck shower after dinner.
Below is our view at Case Marina. We were the only Loopers around (everyone else was local). We walked across the street to dinner at an Italian restaurant and met a bunch of local who went out to dinner because there was a power failure. New York is not accustomed to the type of heat we in the Central Valley of California call a regular summer (except for that humidity thing) nor rolling blackouts to conserve power.
June 24, 2025: Dr. John arrived in Syracuse, taking over from Dean as First Mate. After a few short lessons relating to the fenders, lines, docking and locks, we left Brewerton with Rayma at the helm. The day ended at Case Marina in Baldwinsville roughly 20 miles west. We saw hundreds of homes on the river with their own docks and boats - which we had not seen previously. Beautiful area.
Zander’s tongue was out most of the day - it was hot and humid without any AC. He was not a happy sailor.
