Day 74: Charlevoix to Leland, MI

August 12, 2025: We left Charlevoix and traveled to Leland, Michigan.

We had planned on being in Leland for two nights, starting August 11; however, due to some electrical/battery issues we were delayed. We had a prolonged downpour about 10 am. Weather forecast called for on-going rain through 1:30 - we were supposed to leave our slip by 11 am. The weather forecast also called for winds of 13-19 mph and waves 1-3 feet. These are not ideal conditions but waiting could mean it would get worse. It was Tom’s turn at the helm so we off we went. Not the roughest day but not far from it. Nevertheless, Our Delite arrived safely at our intended destination, the township of Leland, Michigan.

Leland was and to some extent still is a fishing village. It has preserved a portion of its old fishing village and there is actually fish for sale there (yes Tom bought some). The town is beautiful - lush greenery and flowers in abundance. The homes are a variety of styles and appear well cared for even though this area gets snow and ice im the winters.

And then there was our trip to the Cove restaurant - filled with memorabilia and artifacts - to Tom’s utter delight.
