Days 72-73: Charlevoix, MI
August 10-11, 2025: We were lucky enough to get one of the last slips in Charlevoix. But when we started to leave Petoskey, we discovered we had a battery or voltage problem. That meant bringing back the mechanic and staying on an extra day - so begging for an extension on our slip reservation. Tom as usual perservered in getting us the slip. Mechanic arrived on Monday and reportedly everything is now golden. In the meantime, we got to (a) take cover in the boat because of downpours and thunder storms and (b) walk around and gawk at the other boats and lake shore houses.
The marina waterfront includes this great “kiddy fountain.”
Video above is our view from the boat.
We entered Charlevoix going under its (lift) bridge without requiring it be lifted! Above, a boat is leaving Charlevoix.
Charlevoix was recommended to us by many boaters; however, it is difficult to obtain a slip reservation. We lucked out. We would stay here a week if we could but we have a schedule and a crew to pick up. From Charlevoix we head to Leland, Michigan. More on that in the next post.
