Day 41: Alpena - a harbor and an airport

Family joined us in Alpena via air. Mark, Heather, Olivia & Tom in Alpena’s city square.

Zander was ecstatic to get off the boat and run, run, run.

July 12, 2025: Our Delite left Harbor Beach at 6 am trying to beat a weather front. Everything was good until about 30 minutes outside of Thunder Bay when fog descended. Being experienced with fog, Rayma kept driving and we made it safely into the Alpena harbor about an hour before the rain started. The rain cleared by the time Heather & Crew arrived around 6 pm.

Alpena is one of a system of safe harbors dotted along the shorelines of Michigan. This is big water so safe harbors are much needed and greatly appreciated. Alpena is a city marina and at the time was hosting a spear-fishing contest - yes they were spearing walleye.

The American flag was enormous - bigger than Our Delite.
