Day 21: End of the East Erie Canal Section
Ledger explaining the routing of their road trip to Dean.
Tom, Rayma, Jon, Genny, Ledger & Dean.
Genny’s dog and Zander were wanting off the boat.
Evening in Brewerton.
Our view of Sylvan Beach, which is on the east end of Lake Oneida.
We made a decision to put the pedal to the metal to get across Lake Oneida today so to make it easier for Dean’s departure and John’s arrival to replace Dean. Brewerton, on Lake Oneida, is the end of the east half of the Erie Canal.
In addition, Rayma’s brother, Jon, her niece, Genny, and her great-nephew, Ledger, met up with us in Brewerton. Jon, Genny and Ledger are doing a big cross country trip. They came from Niagra Falls today and are on their way to Maine. We celebrated with pizza. Then they camped at the marina where we are docked (Ess-Kay Yards).
Dean helped talk us across Lake Oneida - which in the beginning was pretty gnarly with two foot waves and wind - to Brewerton on the far west end of the lake.
Genny and Ledger put together these cot-tents on the grass at the marina. They also had air mattresses on the cots inside the tents.
The finished product of the cot-tents!
