Leg 2: Day 3

October 17, 2026: Owing to a number of factors, including high winds and the fact the day will end with us anchoring, a decision was made to stay an extra day in Columbus, MS. That meant a leisurely morning (including a nice warm shower), a ride into town just to look around, and a trip to the grocery store. We were accosted by two stray pups while we walked around and they would not leave us. (One was teething, which presented some problems.) We were finally able to “ditch” the two pups when we walked back into the retail area and there were a bunch of ladies in front of a bridal store. We later learned one of the store employees took them both home.

We had a great visit with Simon and Nolan, the brothers that we referred to as “Kosovo” although their boat’s name is Sea Venture.

We hatched a plan to likely anchor tomorrow night with the Sea Venture. Security in numbers. Also, Simon is an very experienced boater.
