Day 9: More Upper State New York meandering
On the advice of a couple of locals, we headed to the Croton Reservoir dam. The 6 mile drive itself was worth it. Then we walked along a trail - under which is the NY State water pipeline that feeds Brooklyn - for a total of about 3 miles. The flora and fauna here is so green and lush - it causes any Californian to gush because we just are not accustomed to such vibrant greenery in June.
Zander was happy to be on a trail again instead of a boat.

After our little hike, we went in search of a snack and ended up at a farmer’s market at Honeybee Grove. Despite the knowledge that the boat has limited space (particularly the little fridge) we bought: two kinds of mushrooms, three kinds of olives, zucchini, apples, fresh bread, garlic infused olive oil (very very yummy), coffee and a scone. Rest assured we are not going to lose weight on this voyage.
