Day 93: Lake Barkley, KY
September 1, 2025: From last night’s anchorage near the junction of the Mississippi and the Ohio Rivers, we traveled to Lake Barkley in Kentucky. “The Plan” was to stop in Paducah, KY but Tom decided to press on and we gambled that on Labor Day Weekend the barge business would be reduced and we could get through the Kentucky Lock faster than on another day. He might have been right. We did wait about 2-2.5 hours at the lock but we went through it without another boat in the lock. From there it was not long before we arrived at Green Turtle Bay on Lake Barkley.

The above demonstrates the amount of commercial traffic on the Ohio River. We had no idea! The Ohio River is wider than the Mississippi (at least on the parts we have been on) and was smoother as well. But lots and lots of commercial traffic.
