Day 15: The End of the Hudson River Ride

Today is the day that Jill had to leave us. We were reluctant to let her go because she has been such a fantastic crew member and friend. But as she said, we had a great time together and it will not be the last! Jill is headed for her own new adventures and we wish her well. We think she is not done with Our Delite.

We feel like we are eating our way around America. Less than 100 yards from our dock tonight, we find Dinosaurs, a BBQ house. We rate it 12/10 and the key lime pie? 20/10. We’re going to take Dean there tomorrow and this time Rayma is not splitting a piece of pie with Tom - she’ll get her own slice.

The docks at Troy Downtown Marina. We got the last reservation! We met up again with another Looper and met new Loopers. It is likely we will go through the Erie Canal locks with these boats so we are making friends.

Saying goodbye to Jill in Troy, NY at the Troy Downtown Marina.

The NY State Canal System finally announced that two locks in the middle portion of the eastern canal were open. There were boats backed up waiting to enter the Erie Canal as a result of the closures and we were unsure if and when it would open until yesterday. Huge sigh of relief that we do not have to do a major shift in our “plans.” Tomorrow, Dean will join us and then on Monday we will enter the Erie Canal. Stay tuned for more!

We came up river today from Donovan’s Shady Harbor and went past Albany, the capitol of New York State. Below are some photos from the river.
