Day 30: Westward on Lake Erie

The marina for the night, Mentor Harbor Yacht Club, was hosting a junior’s sailing competition (think grade school age). It was fun to watch - even Zander was curious about it.
At the end of the day, John and Tom, along with Commodore Z, did a tour of the yacht club in our dinghy (the Little Delite). The locals have docks and huts here and there are also homes with docks on the water. Looks like a lot of summer fun goes on here!
Our Delite docked. The kids’ sailboats are visible in the background.

June 29, 2025: A weather window had us sailing out of Buffalo at daybreak. We had to travel some 100 miles. We left at 5:35 am and got into Mentor Harbor Yacht Club at 1 pm. The further west we got, the better the conditions - meaning less wind and flatter water. We were not alone in taking advantage of good weather as we traveled through HUNDREDS of boats in the process. Most of the boats were fishing and we later learned the catch of the day was walleye.
John, Zander and Tom went out to explore the marina neighborhood.
